How to Get Started Selling Online Part 2

Reselling books is a great way to add to your profits online. They are portable, easy to ship, and books are easy to list on an auction website because of their ISBN numbers. You can find books almost anywhere once you start looking. Most libraries have a book sale section. Libraries also may have a yearly book sale where there are many books for sale at one time.

Hospital gift shops, thrift stores, and tag sales are all great places to find books at deeply discounted prices. Avoid buying books in bulk from other online sellers. If they are labeled, “great for resale”, this is probably not true. If they were truly great for resale, the seller would be selling the books individually instead.

If you are not an avid reader, this should not stop you from becoming an online bookseller. Start with the most recent books you can find. Look for books that are in excellent condition. You should have success selling books as long as they are not destroyed or too old. Avoid selling books that have an odor as this will not encourage people to buy from you again. One good way to find books or authors that are currently selling is to look in the book aisle of most supermarkets or big chain stores.

Other items that you can sell online can be found at Estate Auctions. Estate Auctions can range from “junk” to high priced antiques. Often you can find early bird auctions which tend to be low priced items before the more valuable items in an estate are sold. There is generally several hours before an auction where you can go and preview items for sale. Look closely and look for any flaws or damage.

Learning about antiques and their value can be a life long process. Know that you can’t possibly know everything, but that buying and selling antiques is a guessing game. Take a chance at items that catch your eye. You never know. You may buy a five dollar painting that nets you hundreds online.
