Don't Rely on Stock Photos

In addition to avoiding eBay's collection of stock descriptions for your various auctions, it is a good idea to also avoid their collection of stock photos.

Using one of eBay's photos instead of your own quality photo of the item to be sold is discouraging to bidders for two reasons.

A stock photo suggests there may be some defect in your item that you are trying to hide.

It is also worrisome to bidders to bid on an item that they have never actually seen for themselves.

Using your own photo when posting your item will make bidders feel more trusting and thus more likely to bid.

And of course your own photo will help your item to stand out amongst all of the other sellers who have chosen to use eBay's photo instead of their own.
